What Is Cybertruck Powershare?

Your Truck Is Your Home'sBackup Power Plant

Tesla's Cybertruck is the first production pickup truck with native vehicle-to-home (V2H) bidirectional charging built in. Unlike traditional EV chargers that only pull power from your home, Powershare flows electricity in both directions — charging the truck from the grid and feeding AC power back to your home on demand.

In a power outage, the Cybertruck's onboard inverter converts its massive battery pack into a silent, emission-free generator — automatically switching your home to truck power the moment the grid goes down.

123 kWh
Usable Battery Capacity

The Cybertruck Foundation Series packs up to 123 kWh of usable energy — enough to power the average American home for 3 to 4 days on essential circuits.

11.5 kW
Max AC Export Power

Powershare exports up to 11.5 kW of AC power, capable of running your HVAC, refrigerator, lighting, and other critical loads simultaneously during an outage.

Whole Home
Backup Coverage

With a properly installed automatic transfer switch (ATS), Powershare can back up your entire home — not just a few outlets — making it a true whole-home energy solution.

Why Homeowners Choose Powershare

Benefits of Cybertruck Powershare for Your Home

Powershare isn't just a backup power system — it's a complete home energy upgrade that prepares your family for whatever the grid throws at you.

Automatic Outage Protection

The moment your grid power fails, the automatic transfer switch activates and your Cybertruck seamlessly takes over — no buttons to press, no manual startup required.

3–4 Days of Backup on One Charge

With 123 kWh of usable capacity and an average home drawing ~30 kWh per day, a fully charged Cybertruck keeps your home running for days, not hours.

Pairs with Solar & Powerwall

Integrate Powershare with a rooftop solar array and Tesla Powerwall for an energy-independent home. Solar charges the truck during the day; the truck backs up the home at night or during storms.

Tesla App Control

Set backup reserves, configure outage thresholds, monitor real-time power flow, and manage your entire home energy ecosystem from the Tesla mobile app.

Off-Peak Energy Arbitrage

Charge during low-rate overnight hours and use your Cybertruck's stored energy to power the home during peak-rate periods — reducing your electricity bill over time.

Silent & Emission-Free

Unlike gas generators, Powershare produces zero emissions, no exhaust fumes, and zero noise — making it safe to use indoors and more neighbor-friendly during long outages.

Especially Critical for Tampa Bay Homeowners

Florida's hurricane season brings multi-day power outages that can leave families without air conditioning, refrigeration, and lighting for days at a time. Cybertruck Powershare offers Tampa Bay residents a modern, gasoline-free alternative to noisy portable generators — keeping your home comfortable and safe when the grid goes down.

Installation Requirements

What You Need for a Powershare Home Backup System

A safe, code-compliant Powershare installation requires specific components. Here's exactly what Gulfstar Electric provides and installs for your home.

A Powershare-Equipped Cybertruck

Required

Powershare is available on select Cybertruck trims. Not all configurations include the bidirectional capability — Gulfstar will confirm your truck's eligibility during your free site assessment.

Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS)

Required

Per the National Electrical Code (NEC), your home must be isolated from the utility grid whenever Powershare is active. An ATS handles this automatically, preventing dangerous back-feed to lineworkers.

Dedicated Bidirectional Circuit

Required

A dedicated 240V circuit must be run from your electrical panel to your parking area, sized appropriately for the Cybertruck's full 11.5 kW export capability.

Electrical Permit & Inspection

Required

All V2H installations require a permit pulled with your local municipality and a passed electrical inspection before the system can be used. Gulfstar handles every step of this process.

Optional Upgrades & Add-Ons

Depending on your home's existing infrastructure and energy goals, Gulfstar may recommend one or more of the following during your assessment:

  • Electrical panel upgrade (if your existing panel lacks capacity)
  • Tesla Powerwall integration for extended backup capacity
  • Solar panel connection for a fully self-sustaining energy system
  • Sub-panel installation for dedicated backup circuits

Every home is different. Gulfstar's licensed electricians will assess your specific situation and provide a detailed, itemized quote before any work begins.
